The Northern Guy

He's big, he's tough, but when it comes to hot sauce he's kind of a woos. Northern guy is the type of guy who likes to wear those long sleeve plaid shirts with one of those funny hats that have built in ear muffs. He's one of those guys that wears boots with steal toes. He one of those guys that will tell you something about your car engine that you don't even know. He's also one of those guys that can bake a mean loaf of banana nut bread but doesn't like to talk about it.

Most importantly, he's the type of guy who likes his hot sauce, but likes it less hot. Northern Guy brand is made from the same winning formula that is Pete's Hydrohot but with 1/4th of the peppers. We also beefed up the garlic just for fun.

The endorsement we get from the Northern Guy is something that the whole gang over at the Hydromountain do not take lightly. Through time this great affiliation is something that Northern guy no longer takes lightly either. Actually since Northern Guy jumped on our bandwagon, he has become a bit of a primadona with his weekly speeches on organics or power mulching. But we cannot deny that he truly is a philanthropist. For every bottle of Northern Guy sold, Pete's Hydrohot  donates 50 cents to Northern Guy's favorite charity, The Northern Guy research and development fund.

Above is a picture of the northern guy from way back in 1986 when he was directing a hydroponic research project on Cape Cod. For the first time ever habanera peppers and cranberries were grown simultaneously in a controlled hydroponic environment. Northern guy skillfully crafted a 2 acre flood and drain system that successfully produced hundreds of pounds of delicious habaneras and cranberries. This remarkable achievement reached the front page of the Cape Cod Times. When asked what he was doing probing the bottom of a two acre bog, Northern Guy responded, "I am going berry carefully".

Modern day Northern Guy has come a long way since that habanera-cranberry research project back in 1986. He has started a beautiful family. He has started cutting that huge beard and mustache and he has begun a new endeavor distributing organic fertilizer throughout the New England area. In the beginning this caused a little bit of a rift between Pete and Northern Guy. "He's got "!@# "* on his brains !" Pete would say. But then through time Pete learned of the importance of avoiding harsh pesticides and trying to harness the natural goodness of what our earth has to offer. (The health benefits, Wow!) Northern Guy and Pete had a sit down and squared away their differences. (Or at least most of them) Pete vowed to use organic nutrient whenever possible and Northern guy agreed to stop eating so many donuts and lay off the ice cream.
